Today’s video is all about Alchemy and a fantastic way to finance your WoW subscription without breaking a sweat. We’re talking about the swift art of transmuting red epic gems in just a minute or two each day.
First things first – you need to level up your Alchemy skill.
Now, onto the transmute gems. To start, your character needs to be at least level 65. If you want to specialize in transmutations, aim for level 68. Personally, I found levelling Death Knights one at a time in Blood Furnace pretty efficient, especially with the Joyous Journeys buff and some well-placed rests. You don’t need fancy gear or buffs to pull this off; it’s quicker and smoother than you might think.
Alchemy offers three specializations at level 68 – Potions, Elixirs, and Transmutes. We’re zeroing in on the transmutation specialization today. Alchemy is one of the more straightforward professions to level up, and it won’t cost you an arm and a leg. However, the price of Primal Might, a key ingredient for transmutation specialization, might make you reconsider. I’d recommend starting with Potion specialization and later investing 150g to switch. That switch involves a dash through a level 68-70 dungeon.
Now, for the Cardinal Ruby transmute, you need to have your Alchemy skill at 450. Head over to the alchemy trainer in Dalaran and take up the quest to learn the Cardinal Ruby transmute. You’ll need to complete five other epic gem transmutes, each with a 20-hour cooldown. This process usually takes around five days, sometimes even less if you’re lucky.
Speaking of gems, let’s talk numbers. Prices can vary depending on your realm, but let’s crunch some typical numbers.
Scarlet Ruby = 57g Eternal Fire = 30g
That sums up to 87g in costs.
Cardinal Rubies usually sell for approximately 300g (and often even higher on Wednesdays, closer to 315/320g).
So, your profit each day is around 213g.
Multiply that by 30, and you’ve got 6390g. Add on your 20% bonus from Transmutation spec (1278g), and you’re looking at 7668g per month. That’s a WoW token every month, and all it takes is a couple of minutes of your time each day.
If you have watched the video then you’ve seen the transmutes tally up on the screen. Right now, it’s hovering around 20%. Sure, I’ve had days where luck wasn’t on my side, but trust me, those streaks even out eventually. If you’ve got only one alchemist, a bad luck streak can be quite disheartening. However, I’ve had days where I’ve scored 5 procs in a row, so it’s all about keeping the faith.
Lastly, if you’ve got the time and inclination to make gold in a more hands-on manner, consider switching your alchemy spec to Potions or Flasks. Potions, in particular, are a fantastic option.
