Welcome back, brave adventurers, to the rule book of WoW Classic’s Hardcore Realms. We’ve already covered Rule #1: The Unforgiving Mistress of Permadeath. Now, let’s dive into Rule #2: PvP Flagging and You. If Rule #1 is the scary gatekeeper of the Hardcore Realm, Rule #2 is the shrewd diplomat ensuring that all fights are fair and consensual.
PvP Flagging: A Whole New Game
In most WoW realms, if you so much as sneeze aggressively at another player, you’re automatically flagged for PvP. But not here in the Hardcore Realm. Here, you’ll have to type /pvp to flag yourself. Like a safe word in an adventurous game, /pvp ensures that you’re willingly entering the thrilling yet perilous world of player-versus-player combat.
Consent is Key
The team behind WoW Classic’s Hardcore Realms added this rule to prevent unwanted PvP engagements. Say goodbye to those pesky players who try to trick you into flagging by stepping in front of your fireball, for instance. In the Hardcore Realm, PvP is consensual. If you want to engage in glorious combat, you’ve got to type /pvp.
Accidental PvP: A Thing of the Past
Thanks to this rule, accidental PvP flagging is a thing of the past. No longer can you unwittingly stumble into a PvP situation by attacking a flagged enemy player. Instead, if you want to take hostile actions against a flagged foe, you need to knowingly flag yourself. This provides an extra layer of fairness and consent to the otherwise savage world of Azeroth.
Beware Enemy Faction NPCs
Now, while this rule does give you control over PvP engagements, there’s a caveat: enemy faction NPCs. If you decide to attack one of those, you’ll be flagged for PvP even if you haven’t typed /pvp. So, be cautious when strolling around enemy settlements, or you might end up with more action than you bargained for!
There you have it – Rule #2 of the Hardcore Realms, where PvP is as consensual as a cup of tea. So, remember to type /pvp before entering the fray, and be mindful of those enemy NPCs. After all, in the Hardcore Realms, discretion is the better part of valor!
